There were a lot of odd things happening and the school year was only just beginning. Of course, he was among those curious as to why students were going missing and then showing back up seemingly unharmed. According to his contacts in the Death Eaters, it wasn’t anything they were doing. Given Death Eaters weren’t exactly the most honest people, he took that with a grain of salt. Thus, he wanted to find out what was going on.
[break][break]
It was after the first day of classes and he found himself quite bored in many of them as he usually did. Thus, he was scribbling in his potions book all day and then a separate journal with ideas of what was going on. Some ideas were silly, and he crossed them out the instant he wrote it down. A few ideas were fairly interesting, but he doubted they were it.
[break][break]
One of his theories was that the ministry was kidnapping students to check to see if they had yet been marked by the Dark Lord, questioned and interrogated, as Hogwarts was most vulnerable when the students were working from the inside against them. Alas, the ministry even told them not to wander off alone. Then again… they could just be covering their tails. Problem with this was… not everyone who went missing were those who were suspected. Severus couldn’t seem to find a commonality between them.

Severus made his way down to the grounds, looking about and then heading towards the forbidden forest once he was sure no one was watching him, or at least no one he could see watching him. After all, if anyone were to take someone from Hogwarts, the forest would be the best place to hide them. Or that shack that he nearly died last year in. But he was a bit too… reticent to go back there even if it wasn’t the full moon.
[break][break]
Funny how he was willing to enter the forbidden forest full of monsters instead of entering that pathway where a werewolf once waited for him and would surely be empty now.

Regardless, Severus walked into the forest at the most lit area, and slowly made his way into the forest, eyes darting around paranoid. Then again, perhaps it wasn’t paranoia given it was dangerous in here. His wand was at the ready, and taking the most likely path if anyone were going to drag someone, careful to look for any drag marks of any sort – or even footprints that would belong to a human. Of course, it could not be human, whoever was kidnapping the students, but it was at least a good first assumption to work with during his initial inspections.
